HOW TO REMOVE DUPLICATE TRANSACTIONS IN QUICKEN?

Quicken is a personal finance management tool developed by Intuit. It becomes easier for the users to manage their financial transactions and banking. Quicken also allows merging of multiple transactions which makes it all the more efficient. This issue of duplicate transactions in Quicken seems to be on the rise for its users. Duplicate transactions in Quicken are the most common faults users face while using it. The error occurs when a merchant accidentally charges multiple times for a single transaction. This can cause major discrepancies in accounting and thus, should be resolved immediately. 

 

CAUSES OF DUPLICATION IN TRANSACTIONS IN QUICKEN

 

 The error may occur when your Quicken account is deactivated or reactivated. When you reactivate your account, you will be prompted to Add, Ignore and Link the accounts. Choosing the Add option instead of Link will result in creating duplicate accounts. Be careful while choosing these options. 

When your bank makes an error in your Quicken account by duplicating transactions. 

 

 


WAYS TO FIX DUPLICATE TRANSACTIONS IN QUICKEN

 

1- Resolving the issue on Windows


Open the Quicken software.

Head over to the top right corner where the Register Column is located.

Check mark the download id and click on Done.

Check for the download id as it is unique for every download. 

This helps Quicken to easily identify downloaded files rather than downloaded transactions.

2- Deactivate and reactivate the Quicken account

Head over to the Tools option and select the Account List.

Tap on the Edit option for the account which you want to deactivate.

Go to the Online Services app and click on the Deactivate option.

Click Yes to confirm.

Head over again to the Tools option and select the Account List for the account which you want to reactivate.

Click on the Online Services option and choose the Set Up Now option. 

Make sure to enter the correct account details to avoid discrepancies in the future.

3-  Delete duplicate transactions on Quicken

Go to the Account Register.

Look for the duplicate transactions and delete them.

Set the register back to a two-line display. 

 

4- Delete multiple transactions on Quicken


First and most importantly, make a backup file of the original file. 

View the register by selecting the affected account. 

Highlight the first duplicate transaction by selecting it. 

Hold the Ctrl Key and select each of the transactions on the register. 

After selecting all the duplicate transactions, click on Delete.
